Washington’s Tree Fruit Industry Announces 2024-2025 Scholarships Totaling over $1.2 Million

Washington Apple Education Foundation Awarded 387 Scholarships to Students from the Tree Fruit Industry
WENATCHEE, WA –The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) is excited to announce that 387 scholarships were awarded to students with ties to the tree fruit industry this year! Of that figure, 347 students received WAEF scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year. During the 2023-2024 academic year, 76 WAEF students graduated and are ready to enter the workforce.

WAEF scholarships are sponsored by the tree fruit industry through fundraisers, memorial scholarships, and annual donations totaling over $1 million. To be eligible, students must apply using one of two scholarship applications: Universal for those with ties to Washington’s tree fruit industry or Vocational/Technical for high school seniors and current college students pursuing a career in the industry.

Every WAEF scholarship recipient is not only a recipient of our scholarships but also a member of a supportive community. Through the Beyond the Scholarship Program, scholarship recipients receive a comprehensive range of support services throughout the duration of their academic career. This includes workshops led by WAEF volunteers, virtual mock interviews, guided resume sessions, facilitated monthly sessions focused on various topics, personalized quarterly/semester care packages, and many more perks. WAEF delivers a successful program with an 89% retention rate (scholarship renewal awards). Additionally, our WAEF students complete their degrees within four years or less at a rate of 85%, and 78% of WAEF scholarship recipients are 1st generation college students.
