Alumni Volunteer of the Year: Amanda AdamsJennifer Witherbee
Little means more than having our former scholarship recipients return to WAEF as volunteers or donors. This year we are excited to share that Amanda Adams is our Alumni Volunteer of the Year!
Amanda got involved with WAEF soon after accepting a position as the Human Resources Director for Legacy Fruit, LLC in the fall of 2019. Her volunteer work began before we learned that she was a former recipient known to us as Amanda De La Rosa. Her name changed when she married fellow WAEF scholarship alumni Brian Adams.
With support from Legacy Fruit, LLC, Amanda has participated in resume reviews, mock interviews, scholarship selections, and summer workshops. She shared this about why it matters to her, “I have been honored to spend the time this year to volunteer with WAEF. As an alumni myself, I would not be where I am today in my career and family if it wasn’t for my parents and WAEF providing me the opportunity to complete my college education. I am beyond excited to give back in any way I can to try and create that opportunity for others. The WAEF staff, volunteers, and supporters are an amazing group of people who make the work of volunteering a joy. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the team.”
In 2016 WAEF began the “alumni” volunteer of the year category. Amanda joins an impressive including Vanessa Reyes Romero, Ruth Ortiz Villagrana, Xochitl Velazquez, Nate Rubio (deceased), and Anika Grubbs.
When WAEF alumni volunteer it reinforces that what WAEF does really matters. Thank to all of our volunteers that make WAEF possible!
