Care Packages Provide Encouragement!
One of the many exciting ways donors support students is through the funding, packing and sending of care packages to WAEF scholarship recipients.
What is a care package? A care package is a box of goodies (school supplies, snacks, notes of encouragement, and other various items) that are sent to WAEF students twice annually: once in the fall as a "Welcome" to the first weeks of school and another in the spring during final exams as a "Good Luck" type of support.
Why are care packages important? Care packages to students away at college have become a type of tradition for many families- but not all. Years ago, one WAEF student shared that he watched as a number of friends received care packages from home and the emotional support that the package provided students was immense. He suggested that WAEF send to their recipients, many of whom are first generation college students whose families may not know of this modern tradition.
And thanks to many generous volunteers, that is exactly what is being done!
Thank you to the following groups and individuals for sending care packages to these deserving students.
