Yes! I will be graduating this May, from Washington State University with my bachelor of science degree in kinesiology. As for the next stage of my life, I have been accepted into the PhD Prevention Science Graduate Program at Washington State University!!!
As far as future career goals, I am not certain on what I want to do. Though, I am interested in working with health and wellness programs/interventions! I am sure I will network and meet individuals within the field that will help me pursue my aspirations through a career.
I have not yet lined up a job. However, I would love to have an internship or a summer job with an intervention program in Wenatchee or Quincy this summer. I believe that having a part-time job or a paid internship would allow me to attain experience working with programs, as well as to help me financially prepare for school and help me purchase school necessities (office supplies, apartment furniture, etc.) that I will need.
As an underrepresented minority, WAEF has genuinely supported me as I pursued my academic goals and aspirations. I view WAEF as a family member who consistently encourages me and offers their assistance. I am humbly honored and grateful to have been selected as a scholarship recipient. Yes, the financial assistance is incredibly helpful. but the love and support that WAEF offers means the world to me. Thank you WAEF! - Jackelyn Hidalgo
