Meet WAEF Graduate Cecilia Moreno!

I would like to start off by saying thank you to you and all the WAEF donors for helping my family and I financially by awarding me scholarships from the start of my first year at Central Washington University to my last year here. I cannot imagine how difficult it would have been for my family to support me financially if I did not get this financial assistance.

It has always been a dream of my parents to see me graduate from college.  I can happily say that I am almost going to grant them their wish and graduate this summer with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Community Health Education Specialization. Thanks to the consistent financial assistance of the Washington Apple Education Foundation it was easier to achieve that goal.

Now that I am near the end of my college education, I have to look for an internship this summer. I have been working with my professor to find an internship that fits with my interests. Currently I am in contact with the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic and I hope to intern there. I would like to work with children, women, and families in the Yakima Valley area and do community health education work around there.

After I am done with my internship I hope to get a career job where I could implement what I have learned here at CWU. I want to be able to work in a team and conduct assessment, program planning and evaluation tools for community programs. Implementing programs in communities that need it and seeing a positive change in the community and the members after the program ends will be rewarding to me. This is what I hope to do after I graduate from Central Washington University.
