Golf Tournament Raises $80,000 for the Washington Apple Education Foundation
Yakima, WA… Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) golfers supported the good works of the tree fruit industry’s charity last Thursday at the second WAEF golf tournament of the summer at the Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima. The tournament was sponsored by Wilbur Ellis and DuPont.
Tournament Chair Peter Verbrugge shared, “Support for WAEF communicates the industry’s commitment to helping students achieve their dreams. This year’s tournament was another success, well-supported by golfers and sponsors.” “We had a fun day on and off the course supporting our students. It’s true the industry cares about kids in our communities.”
Top Place Low Net team at the Yakima tournament was Pace International with players Alex Podruzny, Mike Blake, Richard Kim and Don Gibson. 2nd Place Low Net went to the DuPont with players Mike Doerr, Chris Nobbs, Terry McEntire and Jay Castle. The DECCO sponsored team came in 3rd Place Low Net with players Josh Gooler, Tommy Hanses, Jake Rhoads and Jerry Schribner. Low gross honors were captured by the team of Tyler Fischer, Shane May, Michael Saunders and Ted Kozikowski sponsored by Keyes Fibre. 2nd Place Low Gross went to the Wells Fargo Insurance team with players Martin Ramos, Danny Lamberton, Bob Conroy and Jon Karcz. The First Fruits Marketing team of Joe Cozzetto, Robbin Erickson, Justin Boss and Mark Blore came in 3rd place Low Gross.
ProNatural presented the course contests. Winners included: Tyler Fischer- Closest to the Pin; Pete Sackett-Accurate Drive; Heidi Morris- Women’s Long Drive; Aaron Gale- Men’s Long Drive and Randy Valicoff- Longest Putt. DECCO sponsored the tournament’s grand raffle prize which was a 915 Titleist Driver and three Vokey Wedges won by Dennis Bigness.
ARMtech Insurance services was the sponsor of the pre-tournament Putting Challenge, won by Nick Willett.
