Yakima Golf Tournament Raises $50,000

Yakima, WA… Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) golfers turned out in force for the July 18th golf tournament at the Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima supporting the good works of the tree fruit industry’s charity.  The tournament was sponsored by Wilbur Ellis and DuPont.  The event raised approximately $50,000 for scholarship and educational programs benefiting tree fruit industry families and students. 

Four teams took the top honors. The C&O Nursery team of Tim Hulett, Nate Fulton, Jack Snyder and Todd Snyder and the MCM Ag. team of Doug Darlington, John Hickey, John Heffron and Glen Leenders  achieved low net bragging rights.  The Burrows Tractor team of Corey deGrood, Dusty Fontis, Aaron Adams and Joe Plaisance and the Stokes, Lawrence, Velikanje, Moore and Shore team represented by Sean Russel, Jeff Widdows, John Huibregste and Matt Tweedy earned low gross awards.

Course contests were sponsored by Pro Natural. Winners included: Ron Ball- Closest to the Pin; Bob Brown- Accurate Drive; Debbie Liska- Women’s Long Drive; Tim Pickett- Men’s Long Drive; Debbie Liska- Longest Putt.  Doug Mills had the winning Poker Run hand in the Poker Run.  Jeff Hattori was this year’s grand raffle prize winner of a Titleist driver and matching 3-wood sponsored by NuFarm and Brandt Consolidation.  The Putting Contest was presented by MCM Ag. Team (John Hickey/Doug Darlington) on the putting green prior to the tournament.  Dusty Fontis was the putting contest champion with a hole-in-one.
