Wenatchee, Wash… The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) Scholarship Application is now available. Students seeking scholarship funding for the 2014-15 school year can find information on the WAEF website, www.waef.org/scholarships, including a link to apply for WAEF awards through theWashBoard.org. The deadline to submit completed application is March 1, 2014.
WAEF scholarships are sponsored by tree fruit industry firms, families and in memory of industry and community leaders. In total, over 200 scholarships will be awarded next spring by the WAEF scholarship selection committee to college-bound and college-enrolled students raised in tree fruit districts of Washington. It is expected these awards will be valued in excess of $650,000.
WAEF utilizes the TheWashBoard.org as a host site for its application to encourage applicants from tree fruit districts to seek multiple scholarship opportunities. TheWashBoard.org is a public/private resource created by Washington State and scholarship providers. The website matches students from Washington state with scholarships they may qualify for based on data submitted by the student. Once a student creates a profile at www.TheWashBoard.org, the WAEF scholarship application will surface if the software detects a match. Registration and use of TheWashBoard.org services are free to both scholarship seekers and providers. Data is secured through the Washington Student Achievement Council, a state agency located in Olympia.
The WAEF is the charity of Washington’s tree fruit industry. Its mission is to impact lives through access to educational opportunities. Information about Foundation activities can be found at www.waef.org. For more information, contact WAEF at (509) 663-7713.
