2012 Scholarship Recipients

Wenatchee, Wash... The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) awarded 187 scholarships this spring to students raised in the state's fruit growing districts, an increase of over 30 scholarships from the prior year. These awards represent approximately $475,000 in scholarship assistance. Funds for the WAEF scholarships are contributed by industry members through various fundraisers throughout the year, in memory of industry leaders and friends, and annual donations.

Okanogan County Scholarship Recipients
Mariela Campos is a 2011 Brewster High School graduate. She was selected to receive a Jonathan Crane Memorial scholarship. Campos attends Spokane Community College and is pursuing a degree in nursing. Her mother is Minerva Alvarado.
Jose Cruz, Pateros High School, has been honored with a scholarship by CoBank. Cruz will attend University of Washington in the fall and his parents are Efren Cruz and Natalia Perez.
Alejandra Cuin Miranda, a 2012 Brewster High School graduate, was selected to receive two awards, the Jonathan Crane Memorial scholarship and the Doug Zahn Memorial scholarship. She plans to attend Wellesley College in the fall to pursue a degree in sociology. Her parents are Venedo and Maria Ana Cuin.
Leonel Delgado, Oroville High School, is the recipient of the inaugural scholarship in memory of Glady Bellamy to pursue his education. He will attend Eastern Washington University in the fall and his parents are Juan Caballero and Constantina Delgado.
Adriana Gomez, Brewster, received a Washington Apple Education Board of Directors scholarship. She is a 2011 graduate from Brewster High School and will be attending Washington State University in the fall to pursue a degree in accounting. Her parents are Adrian and Marcela Gomez.
Belen Gomez, Pateros High School, is being honored with two scholarships: a Jazz Apples scholarship and a Rabo AgriFinance scholarship. She will attend Washington State University in the fall and her parents are Ramon and Laura Oros.
Andrew Grillo, a 2010 Tonasket High School graduate, received a Valent USA scholarship. He will return to Washington State University in the fall. His parents are Gary and Belinda Grillo.
Haley Grillo, Tonasket, received a scholarship in memory of Don Morse sponsored by Chelan Fruit. She is an incoming sophomore at Washington State University and is pursuing a degree in business and marketing. Her parents are Gary and Belinda Grillo.
Guadalupe Ibarra, Bridgeport, received two awards, the Crane and Crane scholarship and the Oneonta Trading Corporation/Cooprider scholarship. She is a 2012 graduate and will be attending Wenatchee Valley College to pursue a degree in Nursing. Her parents are Guadalupe & Graciela Ibarra.
Corbin Moser is a Valent USA scholarship recipient. He graduated from Tonasket High School in 2011 and attends Washington State University. His parents are Greg and Diane Moser.
Yadira Oregon is a 2012 Brewster High School graduate. Oregon was selected to receive the Jonathan Crane Memorial scholarship and plans to attend Washington State University to pursue a degree in political science. Her parents are Antonio & Lucelia Oregon.
Ruth Ortiz, Brewster High School, is an incoming junior at the University of Washington. Ortiz was selected for a Crane and Crane scholarship for a third consecutive year and is pursuing a degree in education. Her mother is Margarita Villagrana.
Mariela Trejo, a 2012 Bridgeport graduate, received the Wilbur Ellis scholarship. She will be attending Gonzaga to pursue a degree in Business. Her parents are Martin and Amalia Trejo.
Xenia Valdovinos, a 2011 Bridgeport High School graduate, received the Crane and Crane scholarship for the second year and plans to return to the University of Washington in the fall. Her mother is Maria Valdovinos.
Ismael Vargas, a 2012 Okanogan High School graduate, received this year's scholarship in memory of Stemilt founder Thomas K. Mathison. Vargas plans to attend Washington State University in the fall where he will pursue a degree in electrical engineering. His parents are Ismael and Genoveva Vargas.
Noemi Villasano, Pateros High School, is the recipient of the Honey Bear Tree Fruit scholarship. She will attend Wenatchee Valley College in the fall and her parents are Antonio and Maria Villasano.
Amalia Walle is attending Heritage University with a Sagemoor Farms scholarship. She is a 2003 graduate from Pasco High School. Her parents are Miguel and Fabiola De LaMora.
Levi Werner, Okanogan, has been honored with three scholarships: a Conover Insurance scholarship, a scholarship in memory of Don Morse, and a scholarship in memory of James E. "Jim" Loudon. He will attend Washington State University in the fall and his parents are Richard and Celia Werner.
Sawyer Werner, Okanogan, is the recipient of a scholarship in memory of KJ Hendershott sponsored by Chelan Fruit. He attends Washington State University and his parents are Richard and Celia Werner.
Brandi Wilson, a 2012 Tonasket High School graduate, is a recipient of the Delmar Smith Memorial scholarship. Wilson plans to attend University of Arkansas to pursue a degree in nursing. Her parents are Robert Wilson and Jeanne Lillard.

Chelan & Douglas Counties Scholarship Recipients
Jacob Burberry, Chelan, is a Pace International scholarship recipient. He will attend Western Washington University in the fall and major in chemistry. His parents are James and Jill Burberry.
Blake Callison is a current Manson Secondary School graduate and the recipient of Welcome and Lisa Sauer scholarship. Callison will attend Central Washington University in the fall and his parents are Ken and Candice Callison.
Yadira Castañeda was selected for renewal of a Jacquelyn Horan McDougall Memorial scholarship sponsored by McDougall & Sons. Castañeda is a 2010 Cashmere High School graduate and is attending Stanford University. Her parents are Sabas and Maria Castañeda.
Alonso Castro is a 2011 Wenatchee High School graduate and recipient of the 2012 Stemilt Growers, Inc. scholarship. He attends Washington State University and is pursuing a degree in Neuroscience. His parents are Luciano & Maria Castro.
Annie Christie, 2012 graduate of Cascade High School, is the recipient of the Guillermo Espinosa Bloomsday scholarship. Christie plans to attend Washington State University in the fall. Her parents are Scott and Megan Christie.
Claudia Cobarrubias is a 2012 Wenatchee High School graduate and recipient of the 2012 CCM scholarship sponsored by Columbia Fruit, Columbia Marketing International, and McDougall & Sons. She plans to attend Washington State University in the fall and pursue a degree in Psychology. Her mother is Alicia Cobarrubias.
Brendali Diaz-Magana, Entiat, has received two scholarships this year: the Orville & Bertha Pebbles Memorial scholarship and the Wilbur Ellis Company scholarship. She will attend Washington State University in the fall and major in accounting. Her parents are Antonio and Marilu Diaz.
Eva Escoto is a 2010 Manson Secondary School graduate and the recipient of the Eckberg Family scholarship. She currently attends Washington State University and her parents are Efrain Escoto and Norma Sanchez.
Guillermo Espinosa is a 2009 Cascade High School graduate. He received a Northwest Farm Credit scholarship to continue his education at Gonzaga University. His parents are Armando and Abigail Espinosa.
Veronica Farias, 2008 Manson High School graduate, was the recipient of a Wilbur Ellis scholarship. She attends Gonzaga University and her parents are Candelario and Dionicia Farias.
Hailey George, Wenatchee, has received a scholarship sponsored by Dan and Bri Plath for a third year. She will be attending University of Washington in the fall as a junior majoring in business. Her parents are Todd and Erin George.
Mauricio Gonzalez, a 2012 Eastmont High School graduate, was selected to receive the Blue Bird scholarship in memory of Les Moser. Gonzalez will be attending Washington State University in the fall.
Elida Leyva, Manson, is the recipient of the scholarship in memory of Robert Prince. She will attend Wenatchee Valley College in the fall and her parents are Graciano Leyva and Virginia Morales.
Analeydi Lopez, a 2011 Eastmont High School graduate, was selected to receive the McDougall & Sons scholarship. Lopez attends Eastern Washington University with her scholarship. Her parents are Jesus and Maria Lopez.
Devon Griffith is a current Manson Secondary School graduate and the recipient of the Eckberg Family scholarship. He will attend Whitworth University in the fall and his parents are Earl and Heidi Griffith.
John Grubb, Wenatchee, has received two scholarships this year for a second year in a row: the Wenatchee Traffic Association scholarship and a Van Doren Sales scholarship. He attends Wenatchee Valley College and majors in horticulture and plant sciences. His parents are Mike and Cindy Grubb.
McKenna Hawkins, Manson, is a recipient of the Tree Top Inc. scholarship. She will attend Brigham Young University in the fall. Her parents are Troy and Britt Hawkins.
Darby Jenkins is a 2009 Chelan High School graduate and recipient of a Washington Apple Education Foundation Board of Directors scholarship. She will return to Gonzaga University in the fall where she majors in business administration. Her parents are Ken and Lori Jenkins.
Natasza Lorentz, Wenatchee, has been selected to receive a Washington Apple Education Foundation scholarship. She attends Montana State University in Bozeman majoring in cell biology. Her parents are Casimir Lorentz and Alexandra Lewis-Lorentz.
Humberto Martinez, 2012 Waterville High School graduate, received the Van Doren Sales Scholarship. He will attend Wenatchee Valley College in the fall and his parents are Salvador and Linda Martinez.
Michalla Maupin, East Wenatchee, was selected to receive the Hunter scholarship. She will be attending Wenatchee Valley College in the fall. Her parents are John and Sandy Maupin.
Steven McCutcheon, Wenatchee, has been selected to renew his memorial scholarship in memory of Dick Clements. McCutcheon will return to Washington State University where he majors in pre med. His parents are Don McCutcheon and Karen Lutz.
Lorena Mendoza-Flores, 2011 graduate from Chelan High School, attends Seattle University. She received a scholarship in memory of Don Morse sponsored by Chelan Fruit. Her parents are Andres Mendoza and Reyna Flores.
Leticia Mendoza is a 2012 Wenatchee High School graduate and recipient of the Wenatchee Learns scholarship sponsored by Stemilt. Mendoza will attend Washington State University in the fall. Her parents are Benito and Laura Mendoza.
Madeleine Perkins, Mansfield, received the Wells Fargo Bank scholarship. She will attend Washington State University in the fall and her parents are Randy Perkins and Erica Bell.
Anayssa Pulido, a 2010 Eastmont High School graduate, was selected to receive the Dan & Bri Plath scholarship. She attends Washington State University and majors in elementary education. Her parents are Belisario and Marisa Pulido.
Claudia Ramos, Wenatchee, received the Stemilt Growers, Inc. scholarship for a fourth consecutive year. Ramos is attending Washington State University and is majoring in communications. Her parents are Manuel and Maria Ramos.
Alexis Rapozo is a current Manson Secondary School graduate. She will attend Washington State University in the fall and her parents are George Rapozo and Dawn Dibble.
Mandy Robison is a 2012 Chelan High School graduate and received a scholarship in memory of Don Morse sponsored by Chelan Fruit. She will attend Washington State University in the fall. Her parents are Allen and Rachel Robison.
Houston Robison, Chelan Class of 2010, received a Washington Apple Education Foundation scholarship. She attends Eastern Washington University and her parents are Allen and Rachel Robison.
Adrian Salgado is a 2012 Wenatchee High School graduate and the recipient of the Garry Williams Memorial scholarship sponsored by Washington Cherry Growers. He will attend Washington State University in the fall majoring in engineering. His parents are Proseso and Ana Marie Salgado.
Irene Sanchez, Eastmont Class of 2009, received a Wilbur Ellis Company scholarship. She will utilize it at Central Washington University in the fall. Her parents are David and Anita Sanchez.
Carter Shae, Wenatchee, has been selected to receive the Stemilt Growers, Inc. Accounting scholarship. He will attend University of Washington in the fall for his master's degree in accounting.
Eric Shreiner, East Wenatchee, has been selected for renewal of a Jacquelyn Horan McDougall Memorial scholarship. He attends the University of Washington. His parents are David and Marisa Schreiner.
Patrick Smith is a 2011 Wenatchee High School graduate. He has been selected to receive the CCM scholarship sponsored by Columbia Fruit, Columbia Marketing International and McDougall and Sons. He attends Wenatchee Valley College. His parents are Blake and Mary Smith.
Maria Soto is a 2010 Cashmere High School graduate and recipient of a scholarship sponsored by Northwest Farm Credit Services. Soto attends Wenatchee Valley College. Her parents are Jose de Jesus and Juana Soto.
Mandy Southard, Entiat, has been selected to receive two scholarships: a scholarship in memory of Bill Dewitt and another scholarship in memory of Bob McDougall. She will attend Wenatchee Valley College in the fall. Her parents are Larry and Mitzi Southard.
Aurora Guadalupe Tamayo-Lozano, a 2012 Westside High School graduate, received the McDougall & Sons scholarship which she will use at Wenatchee Valley College this fall. Her parents are Jesus Mojica and Lorena Tamayo.
Tomas Whitehall, an Entiat High School graduate and a former WAEF scholarship recipient, has received a scholarship in memory of Betty Campbell Loudon. He attends Washington State University and his parents are Randy and Karin Whitehall.
Robert Whitehall is a 2010 Entiat High School graduate and recipient of a scholarship in memory of Harold Grim. Whitehall attends Wenatchee Valley College and his parents are Randy and Karin Whitehall.
Jorge Zavala, Wenatchee, was selected as a Syngenta scholarship recipient. Zavala will be continuing his education at Washington State University. His parents are Antonio and Maria Zavala. 

Benton and Grant County Scholarship Recipients:
Jessica Esparza is a 2011 Quincy High School graduate and recipient of the Double Diamond Fruit scholarship. She attends Big Bend Community College and is studying communications. Her parents are Sergio Esparza and Martha Santillan.
Dora Luz Hernandez, Richland, was honored with an Oneonta/Cooprider scholarship. She will attend Colorado University in the fall and her parents are Ernesto and Dora Hernandez.
Jackelyn Hidalgo, Quincy, is a recipient of a scholarship in memory of Joe Bulleri. She will be attending Washington State University in the fall and her parents are Miguel Hidalgo and Maria Avalos.
Allie Kiehn is a 2011 Quincy High School graduate and recipient of a scholarship in memory of Joe Bulleri. She attends Washington State University and majors in agricultural education. Her parents are Charles and Jeannie Kiehn.
Analley De Los Santos, Royal High School, is a recipient of the Washington Fruit/Royal High School scholarship. She will be attending the University of Washington in the fall and her parents are Gerado De Los Santos and Guillermina Valdez.
Maria Garcia, Royal High School, has received a scholarship in memory of Deborah Krautwurm to help fund her education at University of Washington. Her parents are Alberto and Ofelia Garcia.
Ivan Guiterrez is a current Royal High School graduate and recipient of the Washington Fruit/Royal High School scholarship. He will be attending Columbia Basin College to become an automobile technician. His parents are Demetrio Guiterrez and Alejandra Nunez.
Jacqueline Mendez, Royal High School, is the recipient of Yurianna Garcia's Bloomsday scholarship. She will be attending Big Bend Community College in the fall. Her mother is Teresa Mendez.
Luis Ramirez is a current Royal High School graduate and is being honored on his scholastics with a Migrant Student Leadership and Academic scholarship. He will attend Columbia Basin College in the fall and his father is Isidio Ramirez.
Jonathan Abarca, Mattawa, is the recipient of a Wilbur Ellis scholarship that he will use at Washington State University. His parents are Gabino and Noemi Abarca.
Maria Elena Calderon-Sandoval, Mattawa, is a recipient of the Kibble and Prentice scholarship. She attends Eastern Washington University. Her parents are Alfredo Calderon and Maria Elena Sandoval.
Elizabeth Santana has received the Washington Fruit and Produce Company scholarship for a 2nd year. She is a 2011 graduate from Royal High School and attends Wenatchee Valley College. Her father is Miguel Santana.
Jose Mendez is a 2007 Wahluke High School graduate and the recipient of the Washington Apple Education Foundation Board of Directors scholarship. He currently attends Wenatchee Valley College and his parents are Ramon and Lila Mendez.
Maria Mendoza is a current Wahluke High School graduate and the recipient of Maria Elena Sandoval Calderon's Bloomsday Scholarship. Her parents are Hector and Martha Mendoza.

Kittitas & Yakima Counties Scholarship Recipients:
Rita Acevedo, a 2012 graduate from Granger High School, is the recipient of the Migrant Student Leadership and Academic scholarship. She will be attending Spokane Falls Community College in the fall and her parents are Jose and Juana Acevedo.
Alma Aguilar, 2011 Toppenish High School graduate, received a Wilbur Ellis scholarship which she will use at Whitworth University. Her parents are Juan and Maria Soto.
Valerie Alvarez is a 2012 Highland High School graduate and received the C.G Robbins Memorial scholarship. She will attend Central Washington University in the fall and her parents are Miguel and Irene Alvarez.
Jazmin Andrade is a current Naches Valley High graduate and is a recipient of the Washington Fruit & Produce scholarship. She will attend Whitworth University in the fall with her scholarship and her parents are Francisco and Mireya Andrade.
Jesus Barajas, a 2008 A.C. Davis High School graduate, has been awarded a Wilbur Ellis Company scholarship to help him pursue his education at Central Washington University. His parents are Jose and Lidia Barajas.
Jason Bjur was presented with a Yakima Valley Growers-Shippers Association scholarship. Bjur is a 2010 Riverside Christian graduate and will use the scholarship at the University of Idaho. His parents are Gary and Colleen Bjur.
Troy Brown, 2012 Selah High School graduate, received the Matson Fruit Scholarship. He will use his scholarship at the University of Washington in the fall. His parents are Marty and Carol Brown.
Steven Bosma is this year's proud recipient of a Stadelman Fruit scholarship. He is a 2011graduate from Sunnyside Christian High and will utilize his scholarship at Whitworth University. His parents are Steve and Julie Bosma.
Vanessa Castro, Yakima, has been awarded a Columbia Fruit Scholarship to further her education. Castro will be attending Central Washington University. Her parents are Francisco and Maria Castro.
Diana Cervantes is a 2012 Grandview High School graduate who received the Stewart Family scholarship. She will attend Central Washington University in the fall and her parents are Florentino and Estela Cervantes.
Julianne Cozzetto, Yakima, received the First Fruits scholarships which she will use to fund her education at Saint Mary's College of California. Her parents are Joseph and Karen Cozzetto.
Andrew Delgado, Cowiche, received a Washington Apple Education Foundation scholarship. He attends Western Washington University and will return in the fall. His parents are Francisco and Emma Delgado.
Rodolfo Delgado, 2012 Wapato High School graduate, is the recipient of a Yakima Fruit scholarship. His parents are Rodolfo and Maria Delgado.
Yaniera Delgado, Highland High School, received two scholarships: a Cowiche Growers scholarship and a scholarship in memory of E. Ralph and Ida Strausz. She will attend Eastern Washington University in the fall. Her parents are Francisco and Emma Delgado.
Keila Diaz, Granger High School, received a Wilbur Ellis scholarship to fund her education at Yakima Valley Community College. Her parents are Migues and Vilgai Diaz.
Brittany Elston, a 2009 Naches Valley High graduate, was awarded the Sun-Rype scholarship. She attends Yakima Valley Community College and her parents are Rodney Elston and Becki Ramirez.
Sonya Fraga plans to pursue her education at Yakima Valley Community College with a Stadelman Fruit scholarship. She is a 2011 graduate from Grandview High School. Her parents are Robert and Rose Fraga.
Miguel Figueroa is a current A.C. Davis High School graduate and was awarded an Olson's Honey scholarship. Figueroa attends Central Washington University. His parents are Jose Luis and Elvira Figueroa.
Eric Galvan received the C.G Robbins Memorial scholarship and is a current graduate from Highland High School. He will attend Central Washington University in the fall and his parents are Jose and Maria Galvan.
Corayma Garcia is a 2012 Wapato High School graduate and recipient of the Valley Fruit scholarship. She will attend Yakima Valley Community College in the fall and her parents are Agustin Garcia and Teresa Arreguin.
Karina Garcia received the Honey Bear Tree Fruit scholarship. She graduated in 2011 from Highland High School and her parents are Jose Garcia and Enedina Alvarez.
Lisa Garrigues will be an undergraduate at Mississippi State University. She is a recipient of two scholarships: a Washington Apple Education Foundation scholarship and a Yakima Valley Growers-Shippers Association scholarship. Garrigues is a 2012 Naches High School graduate. Her parents are William and Susan Garrigues.
Josh Gefre, East Valley High School, is a recipient of two scholarships: the Fruit Packer Supply scholarship and a scholarship in memory of Jerry Nolen. He attends Washington State University.
Stephanie George, East Valley High School, is a recipient of the Yakima County Farm Bureau scholarship. She will attend Washington State University in the fall. Her parents are Steve and Ann George.
Kassandra Guajardo is a 2012 Wapato High School graduate and recipient of a Yakima Fruit scholarship. She will attend Yakima Valley Community College in the fall and her parents are Pedro and Guadalupe Guajardo.
Briseida Guerrero is a current A.C Davis High School graduate and recipient of the Washington Fruit & Produce scholarship. She will be attending Central Washington University in the fall and her mother is Virginia Mendez.
Guadalupe Gutierrez is a 2011 Grandview High School graduate and is the recipient of the Cobank scholarship. She currently attends Yakima Valley Community College and her parents are Salvador Gutierrez and Teodora Anaya.
Kevin Haro, East Valley High School, was awarded the Roy Farms scholarship. He plans to pursue his education at Yakima Valley Community College. His parents are Gustavo and Reynalda Haro.
Halee Hull, Granger, is a recipient of an Olympic Fruit scholarship. She plans to return to Central Washington University in the fall. Her parents are Raymond Hull and Cindee Galland.
Alex Johnson is a current Selah High School graduate and has been awarded the Larson Fruit scholarship. Johnson will attend Central Washington University in the fall and his parents are Jeff and Kathy Johnson.
Cameron Kobes, 2011 graduate from Toppenish High School, was awarded the Lyle and Shelley Von Essen Family scholarship which he will use at Pacific Lutheran University. His parents are David and LaDonna Kobes.
Lissette Llamas, Eisenhower High School, has received the Columbia Fruit scholarship. She is a student at Seattle Pacific University this fall and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 2011. Her parents are Fredy and Yolanda Llamas.
Abril Lopez is a 2009 Highland High School graduate. She received two scholarships: the Moss Adams scholarship honoring E. Peter Krier and the Pottratz Family scholarship. She will use them to fund her education at University of Washington.
Kendra Lopez is a 2012 Highland High School graduate. She received the Pottratz Family scholarship and will attend Yakima Valley Community College in the fall. Her parents are Jorge and Maria Lopez.
Olivia Luna is a 2011 graduate from A.C Davis High School and attends Yakima Valley Community College. She received the Washington Fruit and Produce Company scholarship for the second year. Her parents are Jorge and Ana Luna.
Alberto Melchor is a current A.C Davis High School graduate and is the recipient of Borton and Sons scholarship. He will be attending University of Washington in the fall. His parents are James and Norma Melchor.
Humberto Mejia has been honored with two scholarships this year: the Louis Van Doren Memorial scholarship and the Washington Apple Education Foundation scholarship. He is an undergraduate at the University of Washington. His parents are Jose and Bertha Mejia.
Jonathan Mercado, Tieton, received a MAF Industries Inc. scholarship which he will use at Perry Technical Institute. His parents are Epifanio and Guadalupe Mercado.
Giovana Montes will be attending Seattle Pacific University in the fall. Montes received a Washington Fruit and Produce Company scholarship. She is a current year graduate from Eisenhower High School. Her parents are Roberto and Irma Montes.
Cecilia Moreno is a 2012 Highland High School. She will attend Central Washington University in the fall. Moreno received the CPC scholarship. Her parents are Narcizo and Huri Moreno.
Cynthia Moreno is a 2011 A.C. Davis High School graduate. She will continue her education at Central Washington University. Moreno received the Washington Apple Education Foundation Board of Directors scholarship and her parents are Andres and Paula Moreno.
Braden Mortensen, Zillah, is the recipient of the Sundquist Fruit scholarship. He attends Yakima Valley Community College and his parents are Kevin and Sandie Mortensen.
Crystal Navarro is a current graduate of Grandview High School and received the Wyckoff Farms scholarship. She will attend Western Washington University in the fall and her mother is Mireya Prieto.
Olivia Newman received two scholarships: the H.M. & Marion Gilbert Memorial scholarship and the Personette/ Zimmerman Memrial scholarship. She is a 2012 Highland High School graduate and will be attending Whitworth University. Her parents are Brad and Kristi Newman.
Jose Orenday is a 2012 Naches High School graduate. He is the recipient of the AgNW scholarship and will be attending Washington State University in the fall. His parents are Fermin and Maria Meza.
Laura Ornelas was awarded a Washington Fruit and Produce Company scholarship. She is an Eisenhower High School class of 2009 graduate and attends Yakima Valley Community College. Her mother is Martha Ornelas.
Fabio Pena, East Valley High School, was the recipient of the Roy Farms scholarship. He will attend the University of Washington in the fall and his parents are Jose and Alicia Pena.
Nicholas Perrault is a current year graduate from East Valley High School and was awarded the D&M Chemicals scholarship. He will attend Washington State University in the fall and his parents are Ken and Donna Perrault.
Annahi Pimental is a current Selah High School graduate and the recipient of the D&M Chemicals scholarship. She will attend Washington State University in the fall and her parents are Vicente and Esperanza Pimental.
Amelia Ramos is a current A.C. Davis High School graduate. She was selected for the Migrant Student Leadership and Academic scholarship. She will attend Yakima Community College in the fall.
Elizabeth Ramirez is a current Granger High School graduate who will attend University of Washington. She received the Stadelman Fruit scholarship to fund her education. Her parents are Santiago and Teresa Ramirez.
Lourdes Reyna, A.C Davis High School, is this year's Orchard Rite scholarship recipient. She will continue her education at Washington State University. Her parents are Austreberto and Rafaela Gomez.
Reese Gee-Rivard, a 2012 Highland High School graduate, received the Carl Herke Memorial scholarship. He will be attending the Perry Technical Institute and his parents are Kevin and Kitty Gee-Rivard.
Maria Romero is a 2012 Granger High School graduate and was awarded the Stadelman Fruit scholarship. She will attend Eastern Washington University in the fall and her parents are Rafael and Virginia Romero.
Jacob Roy is a current East Valley graduate. Roy received the Phil Jenkins Memorial scholarship sponsored by the POM Club to use at Washington State University. His parents are Mark and Deborah Roy.
Callie Segraves is a 2011 Selah High School graduate. She was awarded the Yakima County Farm Bureau scholarship and will use it at Washington State University in the fall. Her parents are Gary and Susan Segraves.
Joshua Shepherd, 2012 Selah High School graduate and recipient of the Tree Top Inc. scholarship will attend University of Notre Dame in the fall. His parents are Peter and Lisa Shepherd.
Vanessa Salinas was one of this year's recipients of an Olympic Fruit scholarship. Salinas is a 2009 Wapato High School graduate and is currently enrolled at Heritage University. Her parents are Adrian and Maria Salinas.
Koraima Tejeda is a current Eisenhower High School graduate and was awarded Washington Fruit and Produce scholarship. Her parents are Cruz and Maria Tejeda.
Suzet Teodoro is a current A.C Davis High School graduate and received the Olson's Honey scholarship. She will attend Heritage University in the fall and her parents are Pedro and Elvia Tedoro.
Sandra Valencia, A.C Davis High School, was awarded a Washington Fruit & Produce Scholarship. She will attend Central Washington University in the fall. Her parents are Jorge and Sandra Valencia.
Cristian Velasco, Yakima, has qualified for renewal of his Washington Fruit and Produce Company scholarship. He attends the University of Washington. His parents are Heriberto and Silvia Velasco.
Jocelyn Verduzco is a 2011 A.C. Davis High School graduate and a recipient of a Washington Fruit and Produce Company scholarship for the 2nd year. Verduzco attends the University of Washington and her parents are Fernando Verduzco and Rosa Isela Villegas.
Daryl Winters is a 2012 Naches High School graduate and was awarded two scholarships: a scholarship in memory of Robert and Hope Allan and the Stadelman Fruit Scholarship. He will be attending Yakima Valley Community College in the fall and his parents are Daryl and Vicki Winters.
Joana Zarate is a 2011 East Valley High School graduate and received the First Fruits scholarship. She attends Eastern Washington University and her mother is Maria Zarate.
Angelica Zuniga, 2012 Toppenish High School graduate, was the recipient of two scholarships: the Oneonta Trading Corporation/Cooprider scholarship and a Wilbur Ellis Company scholarship. She will attend University of Washington and her mother is Angelica Zuniga.
Additionally, students Bianca Medina, Marilu Bueno, Vanessa Reyes Romero, Miriam Castro, and Alejandra Sedano, each from Yakima, qualified for renewal of Washington Fruit & Produce Company scholarships.

Adams and Franklin County Scholarship Recipients:
Jose Alvarado, Mesa, is a recipient of the Oneonta Trading Corporation/Cooprider scholarship for a fourth consecutive year. He attends Seattle University. He is the son of Federico and Martha Alvarado.
Vanessa Alvarez has accepted a scholarship in memory of Phil Jenkins sponsored by the Yakima POM Club. She is a 2012 graduate from Connell High School and will be attending Washington State University. Her mother is Virginia Alvarez.
Miguel Delamora, Pasco, is the recipient of two scholarships: a Hansen Fruit Company scholarship and a Sagemoor Farms scholarship. He will attend Washington State University in the fall and his parents are Miguel and Fabiola Delamora.
Heidi Empey, Connell High School, was awarded a scholarship in memory of Richard Keller. She currently attends Brigham Young University and her parents are Lance and janet Empey.
Juan Guiterrez, Othello High School, is the recipient of the Keyes Fibre scholarship. He plans to attend University of Washington in the fall and his parents are Jaime Ceja and Luis Gutierrez.
Adolfo Pineda, Pasco High School Class of 2012, was awarded a Sagemoor Farms scholarship which he will utilize at University of Washington. His parents are Alfredo Pineda and Martha Alcaraz.
Blake Rowley, Walla Walla, has been honored with two awards: the Douglas Fruit scholarship and the Washington Apple Education Foundation scholarship. He will attend Brigham Young University and his parents are John and Lynette Rowley.

Oregon Recipients
Tia Burdick, Hood River Valley High School graduate, received the Stadelman Fruit scholarship to fund her education at Portland State University. Her parents are James and Cheryl Burdick.
Adrianna Jensen, a current Hood River Valley High School graduate, was the recipient of the Stadelman Fruit scholarship. Jensen will attend Portland State University in the fall and her parents are Lester and Leticia Jensen.
Nancy Lopez, Hood River Valley High School Class of 2011, has accepted a Stadelman Fruit scholarship. She attends Oregon State University and will return in the fall. Her parents are Octavio and Roselia Lopez.
Dalila Manzo, Hood River, is a recipient of a Stadelman Fruit scholarship which she utilizes at Columbia George Community College. She is the daughter of Victor and Amalia Manzo.
Zachary Pearson, 2011 graduate from Hood River Valley High School, has received a scholarship sponsored by Stadelman Fruit. He attends Oregon State University. His parents are Timothy and Sally Pearson.

The Foundation will host luncheons later this summer to introduce its current "crop" of students to donors and industry leaders. The WAEF Scholarship Celebration Luncheon presented by Northwest Farm Credit Services will occur at the Wenatchee Convention Center on Monday, July 30th at 12n. The second luncheon, also presented by Northwest Farm Credit Services, will occur on Friday, August 3rd at the Yakima Convention Center.
