Mentorship & Training Coordinator
The Washington Apple Education Foundation is the charity of Washington’s tree fruit industry. Our mission is to impact lives through access to higher education. The purpose of creating this new position is to support the goals of the tree fruit industry’s charity by encouraging student success. As the charity of the tree fruit industry, governance, funding and volunteer resources are primarily tied to tree fruit industry members, employers and suppliers.
This is a new position. It is based out of our Wenatchee office. Some travel, including some overnight travel, will be required.
Hours: Full-Time, though option exists to adapt to part-time for the right candidate
Salary: $3330-4100 per month. Health insurance benefits are provided to full-time employees.
Coordinate a mentor program and provide support to volunteers serving as mentors.
Work with existing volunteers to coordinate and promote annual career tours and career exploration events for WAEF students.
Work with students, employers and volunteers to create internship matches and other student career development needs.
Facilitate development and usage of our new Alumni software designed to increase engagement amongst alumni, volunteers and current students.
Provide regular outreach to assigned group of students with a focus on supporting students to degree completion and renewal of existing scholarships.
Establish and maintain the new WAEF Campus Communities leadership program engaging current WAEF scholarship recipients.
Coordinate workshops for students and parents in advance of the annual scholarship celebration luncheons.
Assist with scholarship training sessions held in area high schools.
Coordinate small, regional dinners and events for current WAEF scholarship recipients held in locations across the state.
Provide support for alumni development and outreach efforts.
Participate in establishing new outreach efforts.
Provide assistance to the executive director, as requested.
Other duties, as assigned.
Minimum five years of experience in a professional career environment
Tree fruit industry experience preferred
Bilingual, English & Spanish preferred
Work or personal history in central Washington
Proficient in MS Office suite of products
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desire to be part of a team environment
BA or BS degree, field of study may vary
- English and Spanish bilingual preferred
- Regular travel in central Washington will occur, sometimes including overnight stays. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and transportation.
- Must be highly organized and motivated to perform duties precisely.
- Friendly demeanor and ability to work well with others.
- Use of sound judgment.
- Interest in furthering the mission of the Washington Apple Education Foundation and supporting the charitable goals of the tree fruit industry.
- Ability to work in a small work environment requiring regular communication and teamwork.
